Class format and curriculum

Can classes follow what my child is learning at school?
Yes. We look at the student's schoolwork and current understanding, then adjust the lesson content. We can revisit concepts the student missed, move more quickly through familiar material, or study a topic in greater depth.
For school support programs, lessons can draw on the student's actual syllabus, class notes, presentations, handouts, assignments, and assessments.
Can classes align with AP, IB, A Level, or another school curriculum?
Yes. We identify the curriculum the student is taking or preparing to enter, then plan the learning focus accordingly.
LAB.CO instructors have majored in their subjects and have direct experience with curricula including AP, IB, A Level, and GCSE. They teach from locations around the world. Students can work with a subject specialist and follow a plan based on their current level and school curriculum.
Can my child take more than one subject?
Yes. We do not recommend multiple subjects as a matter of course or add classes a student does not need.
We first review school progress, current level in each subject, and learning goals. We then identify the subjects that would help and assign a specialist instructor for each selected subject.
Is the curriculum different for each student?
LAB.CO classes start with a standard curriculum. We add material based on how the student approaches learning, their current performance, gaps in understanding, and readiness for more advanced work.
In one-on-one classes, assessment and ongoing lessons help us quickly identify what the student needs. We adjust the relevant parts of the curriculum to address gaps and offer application or advanced work where the student is ready.
Group classes follow a shared curriculum and pace. We also check each student's understanding and work, adding review, assignments, or feedback as needed.
Are classes online?
LAB.CO primarily teaches online and also offers in-person classes at its Seocho center.
The choice between online and in-person classes depends on where the student lives, their schedule, the program, and their learning goals. Contact us to ask whether in-person classes are available and when.
How are instructors assigned?
Before assigning an instructor, we review how the student approaches learning, their current performance and goals, and their preferred schedule.
We select the instructor best suited to the student's learning approach and goals from subject specialists with experience researching their subject and curriculum.
Assignments, assessment, and parent updates
How do assignments and feedback work?
Each class reviews previous work before introducing new concepts. Students then work through problems, writing, workbooks, or discussion to check their understanding.
In math, students analyze mistakes and solve problems again. In writing, they revise a draft using feedback. Assignments and feedback vary by subject.
The instructor's comments on each class are sent by the following day. At the end of each month, parents receive an evaluation with a rubric and the instructor's overall comments, which inform the next learning steps.
How do you check understanding and progress?
A short test in every class checks understanding of that lesson and mastery of its concepts.
An assessment at the end of each month reviews overall progress. Each quarter, students also take achievement assessments, such as MAP Test, and a learning profile assessment.
Results help identify learning gaps and growth, and guide review, advanced study, and the next curriculum plan.
Do you record my child's work and progress?
Yes. Each student has an academic portfolio that collects work and results over time.
We keep subject-specific work in the portfolio: math tests and error records, science inquiry and lab reports, English essays and writing portfolios, and monthly and quarterly assessment results.
The accumulated work shows how a student has developed, where they are strong, and what needs attention. It helps plan the next stage of learning.
How do parents receive updates?
A text message with the class results and instructor's comments is sent by the end of the following day.
At the end of each month, parents receive a PDF evaluation through KakaoTalk. It includes a rubric assessment, the instructor's overall comments, and suggestions for what to study next.
Assessment, enrollment, and fees
Is there a level test or assessment before classes begin?
We first review the student's current schoolwork and performance and assess their learning profile, then plan the curriculum around the findings. The initial discussion and assessment process may vary by program.
How often do families enroll and pay?
Regular classes run on a monthly enrollment basis; a long-term commitment is not required.
Monthly tuition is based on the number of classes selected per week. For example, one class per week is billed as four classes per month.
Families can decide each month whether to continue, giving them time to judge whether the class is a good fit without a long-term enrollment obligation.
How are class days and times set?
When you contact us, we ask when the student is available, then coordinate with the assigned instructor to confirm a class time.
One-on-one times are arranged within available slots, taking school schedules and time zones into account. Group class schedules are set by program.
What are the tuition, assessment, and materials fees?
Tuition follows the applicable local education office's fee rules. It varies by subject, program, class format, class length, and number of classes per week. Call us for specific tuition fees.
A diagnostic assessment costs KRW 20,000 per subject. The learning profile assessment is included at no additional charge.
If books or other learning materials are required, we explain the cost before classes begin.
