SCAT Prep: Overview
From kindergarten through Grade 6, your child prepares for the math and vocabulary reasoning sections of the SCAT.
The SCAT is a test students take when preparing for CTY gifted camps. There are two courses: one for kindergartners and children about to start first grade, and one for elementary students.

- Who it's for
- K–G1 SCAT Math is for kindergartners just starting math and children about to start first grade. SCAT Prep for G1–6 is for students in grades 1–6.
- Quantitative section
- Students use math concepts to reason their way through problems. In SCAT Prep for G1–6, they solve each problem more than one way to learn the question types.
- Verbal section
- Students reason out answers from how two words are related. In SCAT Prep for G1–6, they learn ten relationship types, such as antonyms and cause and effect.
- Test practice
- K–G1 SCAT Math includes a SCAT practice drill every class. In SCAT Prep for G1–6, students take timed practice tests and write up the problems they got wrong.
